Sandrine Giroud specialises in domestic and international litigation. She primarily advises and represents clients in complex multi-jurisdictional proceedings, in particular in commercial and banking litigation, private clients and trust disputes, asset recovery including enforcement of foreign judgments, international bankruptcy and civil and criminal international legal assistance. She also has wide experience in public international law issues, including sanction and immunity issues.
Sandrine Giroud has particular expertise in art law, advising art collectors, art market professionals and museums on all art-related legal issues with a special focus on dispute resolution and transactional matters.
Sandrine Giroud is active in the international and domestic legal circuit as a member of the International Bar Association’s litigation committee, the American Bar Association, the Swiss Bar Association and Professional Advisors to the International Art Market. She is president of the human rights committee of the Geneva Bar Association, a director of the Art Law Foundation and a member of the foundation council of the Swiss National Museum.
Prior to joining Lalive, Sandrine Giroud worked as a legal adviser at the Swiss Federal Office of Justice in Berne (2006-2008).
Sandrine Giroud holds an LLM in international dispute settlement from the University of Geneva (2009) and a STEP advanced certificate in trust disputes from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (2012). She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Fribourg with a Master of Laws degree, majoring in European law (2003), and attended the University of Bristol as an exchange student (2000-2001) and the Human Rights Centre of the University of Nottingham (2004).
