Peter has 44 years of construction experience as a quantity surveyor. Leveraging this experience, he has been retained as a quantum expert on numerous occasions and appeared, given evidence, and undergone cross-examination in the Technology and Construction Court, the Commercial Court, and in domestic and international arbitration. He has been a party appointed expert, a single joint expert and a tribunal-appointed expert.
He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Building and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. As an accredited expert witness under the Cardiff University Bond Solon Scheme, he brings a clarity and reality to the quantum in dispute.
Peter’s experience includes the evaluation of costs incurred in insurance related construction claims such as hurricane damage, fire damage and defective design.
In the oil and gas sector Peter has been involved in disputes concerning oil refineries and chemical plants, well head gas process plants, industrial gas plants, gas transmission and pipelines. In the power sector he has experience of nuclear power plants, energy centres and combined heat and power plants.
His rail experience encompasses disputes arising out of signalling schemes, bridgeworks, tunnelling, overhead line and permanent way on heavy rail, light rail and underground metro schemes and extends to disputes surrounding procurement of locomotives and rail plant.
In respect of offshore projects Peter has advised clients on naval surface and subsurface vessels and semi-submersible platforms.
In general construction Peter has been involved in marine civil engineering projects, sewage treatment schemes, drinking water production facilities, hospitals, prisons, hotels, housing, airports and major construction and refurbishment schemes for commercial, leisure and retail.
Following a grounding gained working in the United Kingdom, Peter has undertaken commissions in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Canada, the Caribbean, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, North Africa, West Africa and China.
