Ross Hamilton has 30 years of specialised experience in expert witness engagements involving damages quantification and forensic accounting. He is a founding principal of Cohen Hamilton Steger & Co. Inc., which was established in 2010 and is one of Canada’s largest boutique firms. Previously, he was a managing director/principal at two major international consultancies and a partner at KPMG.
Ross has been retained on a number of intellectual property disputes, involving alleged infringement, on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. These cases have involved both the quantification of plaintiff’s damages (i.e., lost profits) and an accounting of defendant’s profits and have included industries such as pharmaceutical, oil and gas, manufacturing and consumer goods. His role has included tendering expert reports and attending Federal Court as an expert witness.
Ross has also been retained on a number of PMNOC Section 8 cases involving the pharmaceutical industry. In these cases, Ross has provided expert reports and given evidence at the Federal Court.
Ross also has extensive experience conducting various and diverse investigations on behalf of public and private corporations, boards of directors and enforcement agencies involving allegations of fraud, accounting irregularities, and other unlawful conduct or unusual circumstances. He has worked for clients throughout North America and overseas.
Ross is based in Toronto, Canada. He is a Canadian chartered professional accountant (CPA), a chartered accountant with a specialist designation in investigative and forensic accounting (CAIFA) and certified in financial forensics (CFF) by the AICPA.
