Who's Who Legal Arbitration: Expert Witnesses

Liz is a partner in Haberman Ilett LLP and has specialised in dispute resolution services since 2000.  Her main focus is on the financial aspects of disputes and evaluating quantum in the context of contractual claims, investment treaty arbitrations and claims for breach of warranty.  

Liz’s experience is truly international, with clients in the Czech Republic, Dubai, Pakistan, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine and the US as well as the UK. She has been involved in international arbitrations under various rules, including ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and ICSID. She has given oral testimony and been cross-examined herself, as well as supporting the cross-examination of other experts on many occasions.

Liz has a law degree and postgraduate diploma in legal practice from Sheffield University. She worked in a Big Four accounting firm for 13 years and left in 2013 to launch Haberman Ilett. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Who's Who Legal Consulting Experts: Economic Consulting - Quantum of Damages

Liz is a partner at Haberman Ilett LLP with over 16 years’ experience in forensic accounting. She has acted as the accounting expert herself or supported the expert in over 60 cases, including in the context of contractual disputes, investment treaty arbitrations, claims for breach of warranty, expert determinations and other disputes arising out of transactions, accounting irregularities, competition matters and valuations.

Liz has advised clients on the financial aspects of, and evaluated quantum in, commercial and contractual disputes before the English Courts and LCIA, ICC and ICSID tribunals. She has acted both as party appointed expert and as a tribunal appointed expert, and has given oral testimony before an LCIA tribunal. She has played a leading role in cases in the energy sector, mining, pharmaceutical, real estate and private equity industries.

She has also advised clients on pricing mechanisms and completion accounts policies in draft sale and purchase agreements and has been involved with a number of post-acquisition disputes, including being appointed the expert to determine completion accounts disputes and the value of shares under a put option.

Liz has a law degree and postgraduate diploma in legal practice from Sheffield University. She qualified as a chartered accountant and started specialising in forensic accounting in 2000 when she joined one of the Big Four accountancy firms. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
