Ian Bagshaw co-leads the firm’s global private equity practice and focuses primarily on financial investors and corporates acquiring from financial investors.

Ian continues to lead and expand the global private equity business at White & Case, having joined in January 2014 with 10 associates in London. 

Ian was recently accredited in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 (2017) and the M&A Advisor’s Corporate Development Award (2017). His clients include Actera Partners, Alvogen, Arcapita, Arle, Avast Software, Blue Water Energy, Bridgepoint, Bupa, Cott Corporation, CVC Capital Partners, The Carlyle Group, DX Group, GHO, Keter Group, Novator, Mid Europa, Paradise Capital, Parques Reunidos, Play, Privax, Qatar Holding LLC, Rhône Capital, Sagol Family, The Smithfield Group, Summit Partners, Triton Partners and 3i. Ian’s most recent highlight transactions include advising Bridgepoint on its acquisition of Zenith Group from HgCapital; the acquisition of Contract Vehicles Holdings Limited Group from its shareholders; its disposal of the Nordic Cinema Group to AMC Entertainment; its acquisition of Oasis and also of Quilter & Co and Quilter on the bolt-on acquisition of Cheviot Asset Management. 

He advised CVC Capital Partners in leading a consortium, including Temasek Holdings and Vatera Healthcare Partners, on their acquisition of a controlling stake in Alvogen; Harbour Energy Limited, the energy investment vehicle managed by EIG Global Energy Partners, on its agreement to lead the US$3 billion acquisition by Chrysaor Holdings Limited of a diversified portfolio of oil and natural gas assets in the North Sea from Shell UK and its affiliates; Bupa on its £835 million acquisition Oasis Healthcare Limited; and Keter Group on the acquisition by BC Partners Limited and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board of a majority stake in the group from the Sagol family.

Ian also advised Mid Europa Partners on the sale of Zabka Polska to funds advised by CVC Capital Partners; its acquisition of the Allegro Group from Naspers Limited; its sale of a Czech solar business Energy 21 to CEE Equity Partners; and its acquisition of Danube Foods Group BV and Clates Holding BV.
