Pieter Conradie is a director in the firm’s dispute resolution practice. Pieter is a former member of the Johannesburg Attorney's Association Supreme Court sub-committee, a founder member of the Transvaal branch of the Environmental Law Association and a former commissioner of the Small Claims Court. Pieter has been the attorney for various large corporations in South Africa representing them in the United States of America, Britain and Europe.
Pieter obtained a BA and LLB fromo the University of Johannesburg. He was admitted as an attorney in 1976, after which he joined the Johannesburg Bar, where he practised as an advocate until March 1980 when he joined Hofmeyr (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr). He is a member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces.
Pieter practises commercial litigation in the Supreme Court of South Africa, the Supreme Court of Appeals and the Constitutional Court. His expertise also covers arbitrations, mediation, investigations into mining incidents, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, anti-corruption investigations and defamation. He is recognised in Chambers Global (band 1, dispute resolution); The Legal 500: EMEA (tier 1, dispute resolution); Who’s Who Legal: Litigation; Who’s Who Legal: Product Liability Defence; Expert Guides: Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers (litigation, product liability and emerging markets); and Best Lawyers International: South Africa (arbitration and mediation, and litigation).
Pieter has made written contributions to The International Comparative Legal Guide to Product Liability, Class & Group Actions (2014) as well as Getting the Deal Through: Product Liability (2013).
