Bora leads competition law matters at Moroğlu Arseven. He has wide experience helping Turkish and international clients to structure and implement corporate and commercial transactions, with a particular focus on competition law. Bora has over nine years’ experience in the practice area, previously working at a specialist competition law firm. His work includes a wide range of industries, including beverages, banking, health, cement, automotive, retail, cosmetics, ticketing and broadcasting.
Bora advises clients during the review, planning and execution of regulatory filings for exemptions and clearances applicable to restrictive agreements and practices. He represents a range of clients before the Turkish Competition Authority during merger control filings, individual exemption filings, leniency applications and pre-investigations and investigations.
He works closely with clients on regulatory and compliance matters, from drafting company policies through to checking current compliance and ensuring applications are in line with internal policies or legislation. Bora often advises clients on practical approaches to addressing non-compliant situations and avoiding such circumstances in the future.
Bora regularly helps clients to develop a practical and tailored understanding of their specific competition law compliance obligations through audits and mock dawn raid sessions, as well as presenting training seminars and developing bespoke workplace policies. He has wide experience advising clients with vertically integrated business models, thus ensuring they meet their competition compliance obligations. Bora also frequently works with clients operating in industries which face particular competition law obstacles or unique logistical challenges, such as the cement sector.
Bora’s expertise allows the firm to integrate competition law advice into wider advice regarding transaction structuring, strategy and risk assessment during corporate and commercial transactions. His specialist advice contributes to the firm’s full-service package, particularly during M&A and daily corporate counselling matters. Clients benefit from reduced costs, as they are not required to engage external specialist counsel for advice on detailed and technical competition matters.
Bora regularly publishes articles and updates about competition law and regulatory compliance-related matters. He is involved in developing ethics and integrity guidance materials for TEİD, as well as being involved with the IBA’s committees for antitrust and anti-corruption. Bora also frequently attends industry and legal events in Turkey and around the world.
He has been a member of the Istanbul Bar Association since 2007. He studied at Bilkent University Faculty of Law (receiving an honours degree) and holds LLM degrees from Istanbul Bilgi University and the University of Michigan.
