Jean-Marie is the managing partner of Froriep Legal's Geneva office, and in charge of the Madrid office. He has 30 years of experience in international commercial arbitration, acting both as counsel and as arbitrator in major construction projects, energy, automotive industry, distribution, with particular know-how in cases involving Spain and Latin America.
Chambers Global has ranked Jean-Marie for many years as a leader in the field of dispute resolution; in 2014, it placed him in the top tier of the most in-demand arbitrators in Spain.
Jean-Marie obtained a PhD (with honours) from the University of Lausanne in 1988 and a diploma from the Centre for Studies and Research in international law and international relations at the Hague Academy of International Law in 1987 (transnational arbitration and state contracts). He is a regular speaker and publisher on arbitration (for example, at the ICC, IBA, Alarb, CEA).
His working languages are Spanish, French and English.
Jean-Marie is a member of the Swiss Bar Association, the Swiss Lawyers Association, the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Latin American Arbitration Association (Alarb) and the Institute for International Arbitration (IAI). He is a member of the board of the Spanish Arbitration Club (CEA) and member of the club of arbitrators of the Milan Chamber of Commerce.
