Dr Dorothee Schramm is a partner in Sidley's Geneva office and a member of the firm's international arbitration practice. Ms Schramm has particular experience in disputes involving engineering and technology projects, as well as disputes with complex questions of substantive and private international law. She holds law degrees from German and Swiss universities and is qualified in Switzerland.
Ms Schramm has acted as counsel before international arbitral tribunals in all phases of complex commercial disputes. These disputes relate to a broad range of industries and transactions, including disputes arising from large infrastructure and energy projects, international joint ventures and partnerships, joint developments and technical cooperation, manufacturing, sales and supply contracts, distribution agreements, licence agreements and contracts for services. In addition, Ms Schramm advises and represents clients in connection with the setting aside or enforcement of arbitral awards, as well as execution and attachment proceedings.
Furthermore, Ms Schramm has served as chairperson, sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator under the ICC Rules, the Swiss Rules and the Vienna Rules in disputes relating to sales contracts, distribution agreements, construction and engineering projects, M&A transactions and corporate guarantees.
In addition to her arbitration practice, Ms Schramm advises clients in the context of transnational litigation on questions of private international law, including issues of jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, judicial assistance for foreign proceedings, and Swiss and German contract law. She has also supervised litigation in Switzerland and foreign jurisdictions.
Ms Schramm has served on the global advisory board of ICDR Young & International. She speaks and publishes regularly on international arbitration topics.
