Axel Reidlinger is a partner based in our Vienna office and head of the Austrian antitrust, competition and trade (ACT) group.
His specialisations include European and Austrian competition law, public procurement law and energy regulatory law. Axel’s practice covers merger transactions, cartel investigations and dominance cases before the European Commission and the national, including Austrian, competition authorities. He has represented various publicly owned companies in State aid procedures involving the evaluation and structuring of financing arrangements. He also represents clients in competition litigation, including cartel damages claims, before the Austrian courts.
Axel's is the co-author of a book on Austrian competition law (third edition 2014), which is designed as a "practitioner's guide" and has been praised by in-house lawyers and regulators alike for its innovative approach, including boxes with "practical hints".
Born in 1967, Axel was educated at the university of Vienna Faculty of Law and at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (where he was also a research assistant), as well as the University of Paris 2. He obtained an LLM/DEA in European Community law from the College of Europe in Bruges before joining the firm in 1994. Axel is qualified in Austria and has practised in Brussels and Vienna.
He speaks German, English and French.
