Jean-Baptiste de Courcel is a partner in Accuracy’s forensics, litigation and arbitration practice in Paris. He has over 18 years of experience in accounting and financial services, including forensic accounting and damage quantification.
He has been involved in numerous disputes heard before French courts and arbitration tribunals (ad hoc, ICSID and ICC arbitrations) to assess damages and provide arguments on financial, accounting and economic situations, as well as testifying as expert.
Jean-Baptiste’s experience includes litigation and arbitration resulting from unfair competition, breach of fair and equitable treatment, breach of commercial contracts, fraud and disputes in the context of mergers and acquisitions (post-closing adjustments, earn-out calculations, breach of representations and warranties, misrepresentations, JV agreements), and construction claims among other causes of action.
In addition to his expertise in forensics, litigation and arbitration, Jean-Baptiste frequently assists large groups in the context of acquisitions and disposals: business valuation, buy-side and sell-side due diligence, vendor assistance, the negotiation of sale and purchase agreements, as well as business plan modelling.
Jean-Baptiste’s experience covers many different sectors, such as oil and gas, energy, telecommunications, financial services, industry, leisure, defence and construction among others. His work also spans many geographical locations, including countries such as Algeria, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
He previously gained experience in financial advisory and financial audit at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young.
Jean-Baptiste has a degree from Dauphine University in Paris where he specialised in accounting and finance. He also holds a master’s degree in accounting science.
