Eleonora Coelho has a master’s degree in litigation, arbitration and alternative methods of dispute resolution (ADR) from Université Paris II - Panthéon Assas, and has a law degree from the University of São Paulo Law School. Eleonora is the founding partner of Eleonora Coelho Advogados, practising in the fields of civil law, commercial law, litigation and arbitration.
She is a former vice president of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAr); board member of the Brazilian Institute of Law Construction (IBDIC); member of the Latin American Committee for the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); and member of the Advisory Board of the Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration Chamber of São Paulo (CIESP/FIESP). She is currently the general secretary of the arbitration center of the Brasil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM- CCBC).
Eleonora is part of the list of arbitrators of various arbitral Brazilian institutions such as: Getúlio Vargas Foundation Chamber of Arbitration and Conciliation (FGV), Mediation and Arbitration Chamber of the Engineering Institute (CMA-IE); São Paulo’s Stock Exchange Market Arbitration Chamber (CAM); Brazilian Chamber of Corporate Arbitration (CAMARB); Chamber of Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration of Sao Paulo (CIESP/FIESP); and the Arbitration Center of the Brasil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC).
She has various publications and frequently gives classes and lectures related to arbitration and mediation. Her last publication was “Article 1 – Scope of Application of the Rules” in The CAM-CCBC Arbitration Rules: a commentary, Eleven International Publishing, Netherlands, 2016.
She was part of the Senate’s Commission of Jurists that drafted the new Brazilian Arbitration Act.
