Christopher Harris is a barrister and experienced trial advocate ranked as a leading practitioner for (inter alia) banking and finance, energy disputes, international arbitration and public international law.

Christopher specialises in complex commercial disputes and is commonly retained as the lead advocate. He has substantial experience of court and arbitration advocacy and is particularly sought after for his “razor-sharp mind and great oral advocacy” and his “highly effective” cross-examinations, as well as being “extremely good with clients”. 

Christopher has been recognised for many years as one of the leading UK-based arbitration counsel. In 2017 he won the WWL Future Leader in Arbitration award and in 2018 he won the Legal 500 International Arbitration Junior of the Year award, having been awarded the equivalent prize at the Chambers Bar Awards in 2014. He has been ranked alone as a Star Individual for arbitration for several years. 

Christopher focuses a substantial part of his practice on investment arbitration and, to date, has acted as counsel in 18 investment arbitration disputes, for both investors and states. In addition, he has significant experience of the enforcement of arbitration awards, and investment treaty awards in particular, before the English Courts. In recent years, his work in this area has included Yukos v RussiaGold Reserve v VenezuelaStati v Kazakhstan; and Flemingo v Poland

Christopher is also ranked as a leading arbitrator and has been appointed in over 20 cases as wing, sole and presiding arbitrator in disputes under the ICC, LCIA, SCC and UNCITRAL Rules.

Christopher studied both French and Swiss law during his university education and speaks French and German.
