Roger is a leading silk with enormous experience across the full range of construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy and PFI disputes – whether litigated, arbitrated or adjudicated. He has acted for employers, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants both nationally and internationally. He regularly advised in connection with projects in a large number of jurisdictions including the UK, France, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Zambia, Australia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, the Ukraine, South Africa, the US, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Libya. He is familiar with all of the major standard form contracts as well as bespoke agreements. He has often led large teams of lawyers in relation to major disputes including other more junior silks.
He consistently receives praise both for the quality of his work, particularly cross-examination, and his approachable and user-friendly nature. Sources describe him as “quite simply one of the best I have ever seen”, adding that he “brings great order to matters that would otherwise be very complicated”.
He has appeared before an enormous variety of tribunals both in court and arbitration. He also sits as an arbitrator and as a part time judge in the TCC in London.
WWL says: One peer remarks that Roger Stewart QC is “a punchy advocate and frankly the best cross-examiner I have ever seen”.
