Rodrigo Jijón is a partner and president of the board of directors at Pérez Bustamante & Ponce (PBP). He leads the dispute resolution practice.
Due to his remarkable track record representing local and foreign clients, Rodrigo is widely recognised as a seasoned litigator and arbitrator in the Ecuadorian and Latin American market. His expertise ranges from investment protection, to contractual, civil, environmental and constitutional matters.
He is an active arbitrator in the main Ecuadorian arbitration centres such as: Quito Chamber of Commerce, the Ecuadorian–American Chamber of Commerce and the International Arbitration Centre, sponsored by the Pichincha Chamber of Industry and the London Court of Arbitration.
Rodrigo acted as president of the arbitration tribunal in an ICSID case between IBM and Ecuador and has participated as litigating attorney in a large number of national and international arbitration proceedings.
Rodrigo has been a distinguished professor of procedural law in several graduate and postgraduate universities in Ecuador and constantly participates as speaker in seminars and conferences on procedural law and arbitration. He has contributed in several acknowledge publication in the area, with numerous articles and papers.
Rodrigo acted as president and vice president of the Ecuadorian Arbitration Institute and is member of the Ecuadorian Procedural Law Institute. He is frequently recognised in several international publications as a leading lawyer in litigation and arbitration in Ecuador. Chambers Latin America (2017) states: "Market commentators recognise the expertise of head of department Rodrigo Jijón, enthusing that ‘he provides strategic legal knowledge and has a lot of experience in international arbitration.’ They go on to add that ‘he is a thoughtful, creative and highly experienced lawyer.’ His practice encompasses both litigation and international arbitration, acting as both counsel and arbitrator."
