Julio Pellegrini is senior partner of Pellegrini & Cía, where he practises civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on antitrust law and regulated markets.
Julio Pellegrini has recently been involved in several of the most important antitrust cases in the country. Last year he successfully represented Equifax, the global leader in information solutions and one of the largest sources of consumer and commercial data, on a process before the Competition Court seeking to approve the creation of a new credit reporting system in the country. He also represented Cámara Chilena de la Construcción (CChC), the most important trade and union association in our country, obtaining a favourable decision from the Competition Court that recommended enacting new legislation to prevent anticompetitive behaviours from electricity distribution companies. Among other cases, he is currently representing Scotiabank in a regulatory proceeding before the Competition Court as well as the Supreme Court regarding the vertical integration between banks and the company that operates the credit and debit card network.
Mr Pellegrini is the president of the antitrust commission of the Chilean Bar Association (since 2011). He is a member of the advisory board of the centre of competition and antitrust law of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (since 2012), board member of the Chilean Bar Association (2011-2019), arbitrator of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce Arbitration and Mediation Center (CAM) and also arbitrator of the National Center of Arbitration (CNA).
He has been recognised as one of Chile's leading litigators and competition/antitrust lawyers by prestigious publications for the past 9 years.
Julio Pellegrini has also been a professor of economic analysis of law, civil law, competition and antitrust law at various prestigious Law Schools in Chile.
He has written widely in specialised journals and publications both in Chile and abroad.
Julio Pellegrini graduated from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile’s Law School in 1997, and obtained a Masters of Laws (LLM) at the University of Chicago Law School in 2002.
