John has extensive experience in major projects and programmes with significant expertise in infrastructure, natural resources and property projects. Key sectors include aviation, pipelines (on and offshore), rail, ports and process plants.
John joined Turner & Townsend in 1989 and is the global head of contract services across the company’s seven regions of operation. A partner, he sits on the global operations board, he currently has a focus in the Middle East and is a member of the ME board. John’s role encompasses support on projects that are being delivered during the construction phase, as well as providing advice upon disputes and dispute avoidance. He has wide experience advising both major international contractors and client bodies including government entities around the world. His role encompasses advice on live projects and dispute advice after project close-out.
John has truly global experience having worked in over 35 countries, providing commercial advice on major projects and programmes at all stages of the project cycle. John has wide experience in dispute avoidance and the commercial management of disputes. In project setup, John advises clients on procurement strategy and the most suitable commercial models for projects.
John has testified as a quantum expert on numerous occasions in many major disputes. John has provided opinion at trial on a range of subject matters related to quantity surveying. He has also provided opinion on issues related to estimating, project budgets, termination valuation, cost and financial audit, preparation of final accounts, valuation of variations, re-measurement, inflation, and assessment of disruption/prolongation cost claims.
