Who's Who Legal Corporate Immigration

Steve is a partner in the Dallas office where he helps professional athletes, sports teams and corporate clients develop and implement strategies to address complex immigration matters, including layoffs and workforce reductions, due diligence and management of the immigration process in mergers and acquisitions, evaluation of PERM recruitment options, and corporate compliance in the face of enhanced enforcement. He is board-certified by the Texas Board of Legal Certification in Immigration and Nationality Law (1989).

Steve has developed a highly regarded national sports industry practice, providing immigration-related counsel and representation to professional athletes, teams and leagues in a variety of sports, including tennis, golf, soccer, squash, basketball, baseball, figure skating, hockey, football, and track and field. Steve is a frequent speaker on immigration reform legislation and its impact on businesses.

From 2011 to 2013, he developed and implemented a comprehensive immigration strategy to bring hundreds of personnel to participate in the America’s Cup sailing event using multiple visa categories for accountants, lawyers, sail makers, software engineers, ground crew, sailors and others. He has advised and assisted a national retailer in preparing an I-9 strategy to work with hundreds of franchise operations across the country.

Steve is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA); past president of the American Immigration Law Foundation (2003–2006); past president of AILA(2001–2002); former board of governors for AILA (1994–2010); past chairman of the Board Certification examinations committee, immigration and nationality law, for the State Bar of Texas; past chairman, AILA, INS national liaison committee; past chairman of the AILA Texas chapter (1992–1993); and past co-chairman, of AILA INS southern region liaison committee (1990–1992).

Steve has been named Dallas Lawyers’ Immigration Lawyer of the Year 2012 and is also recognised as a leading lawyer in Who’s Who Legal: Corporate Immigration, Texas Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA.

Steve has served as the principal immigration adviser to the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce through its International Business Council.
