Dr Christopher To is independent mediator and arbitrator on the panels of various leading global alternative dispute resolution bodies. He has handled a variety of complex international cases as mediator and arbitrator (sole, chair and co-arbitrator, under various institutional and ad hoc arbitration rules).
He is a former secretary general of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. He is currently an advisory board member of the India International ADR Association; programme leader of the Master of Laws in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution at the City University of Hong Kong; an executive committee member of the Hong Kong Corporate Counsel Association; a council member of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre; and a committee member of the secretary for justice working group on mediation. He is also the immediate past chairman of the East Asia branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
In 2001–2002 he was named Director of the Year by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors for his excellence in corporate governance; he is currently the deputy chairman of the Institute. In 2007 he was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
Christopher holds qualifications in computing, engineering and law. He is an accredited mediator, chartered arbitrator, chartered engineer, chartered information technology professional and law professor. A prolific author on the subject of international arbitration and mediation, he wrote Arbitration Law in Hong Kong, (Lexis Nexis Butterworths) and Mediation in Hong Kong: Law and Practice (Kluwer Law).
