What motivated you to become a lawyer?

I was always very interested in people and understanding their aspirations and needs. Additionally, I wanted to be able to work in a dynamic environment with international exposure. Becoming a lawyer was thus evident to me because it allowed me to perfectly realise all of the above.

How do you try to distinguish yourself and your practice?

Ever since I joined Walder Wyss in 2000, I have focused my practice on IT, data protection and outsourcing. My client base ranges from start-ups to blue-chips, and I advise on the supplier and on the customer side, with a strong emphasis on complex transactions in an international context. My vast experience in data protection and IT transactions concerning regulated industries has allowed me to build a particularly important practice in these areas.

What is your secret to success?

Being client and solution-oriented, being fast in delivery and going the extra mile to get the deal done.

How does Walder Wyss Ltd maintain its position as an independent in an international market?

By constantly adapting to the needs of the market for legal services in Switzerland and by offering high-quality and innovative products and services in line with what Swiss and international clients expect from a top-tier law firm.

Looking back over your practice, what have you been the most proud of?

That the deals I was able to participate in were not only a commercial success but at the same time innovative and new to the market.

What is the greatest challenge facing TMT lawyers at present?

To keep up with the ever faster developing technical evolutions, the new emerging legal issues and the resulting changes in demand for legal services. For example, blockchain technology and smart contracts are bringing about various new legal challenges, in particular to TMT lawyers.

How is Walder Wyss looking to meet such challenges in its TMT practice?

Walder Wyss pursues a very proactive and market-oriented approach. We are closely following changes in technology and try to anticipate their impact on our clients’ needs. From a more practical point of view, we have always been able to attract very talented lawyers to join our TMT practice and we invest heavily in knowledge management and continued education.

What client experience does Walder Wyss aim to offer to clients across its six offices?

We are offering our clients a seamless onestop shop experience across all our offices. Irrespective of the legal area, the language and the office location, it is our aim to always provide personalised and high-quality services with a matching “look and feel” for the client.
