Josef Scherrer's practice is mainly focused on pharmaceutical and health law. He advises and represents domestic and international pharmaceutical companies in matters relating to marketing authorisations, reimbursement, advertising and distribution, drafting of agreements and product liability. He also advises companies in the area of medical devices.
In the course of his professional career, Josef Scherrer has been managing director and chairman of the Association of Pharmaceutical Companies in Switzerland (VIPS). He has also been a member of the board of several industrial companies, mainly in the pharmaceutical field. He also acts as counsel for professional associations of the Swiss pharmaceutical industry.
Josef Scherrer is a member of the Zurich and the Swiss bar associations. He is an individual member of the Swiss Society of Chemical Industries (scienceindustries) and an individual member of the Swiss Association of Manufacturers of Non Prescription Medicines. He speaks German, English and French.
Prior to joining Wenger & Vieli, he was a partner of Scherrerlawyers (1990 to 2004) and Lanz & Scherrer (1968 to 1989) and worked at the district court in Winterthur. He qualified in Zurich in 1968 having graduated from the University of Zurich.
