As a widely recognised antitrust and competition lawyer, Dr Zhan Hao is partner in AnJie’s antitrust and competition department, one of the biggest antitrust teams in China. The scope of the antitrust legal practice covers merger antitrust filing, defence of investigation on monopoly agreements (cartels) and abuse of dominance, antitrust private litigation, antitrust compliance, antitrust analysis from an economic perspective, and anti-unfair competition, serving industries such as automobile, automobile parts, energy, finance, machinery, electronics, textile, aviation, IT, food and consumer goods.
In particular, Dr Zhan excels at antitrust filings, investigation and litigation. In regards to concentration antitrust filings, he has assisted many multinational and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in China and has secured approvals for all transactions he has represented thus far. In regards to antitrust investigation, Dr Zhan has represented both Chinese-funded and foreign-funded companies and has successful experience in dealing with antitrust investigations against monopoly agreements or abuse of dominant position. For instance, he has represented respondents in China's first antitrust investigation against price cartels and consequently obtained a suspension of the investigation. In addition, Dr Zhan has successfully defended clients in antitrust litigations in Chinese courts. He has conducted competition law trainings, compiled compliance brochures, and prepared antitrust analysis for numerous companies, including Fortune 500 companies, listed companies, and SOEs.
Dr Zhan is regarded as a leading professional antitrust/competition lawyer by a number of internationally well-known ranking institutions, including Chambers & Partners and PLC. He is a contributor to the domestic legislative process in this area, having been extensively involved in the drafting, advising, discussion, and formulation of the AML supporting regulations. He has previously been invited to deliver a series of lectures on the PRC Anti-Monopoly Law (AML) via professional training website.
Moreover, Dr Zhan has authored many academic books on the PRC's AML that has been published by LexisNexis and leading Chinese legal press. He is the Chinese antitrust lawyer with both a PhD degree in law and extensive experience in post-doctoral microeconomic research.
Currently, Dr Zhan Hao is an arbitrator of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), HKIAC and AICAC; and vice president of the professional committee of the All China Lawyers Association. He is also a professor at the law school of the University of Central Finance and Economics and Renmin University.
