Rod is a partner in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s London antitrust, competition and trade group, a team he headed from 2006 to 2014. He advises on the full range of EU and UK laws on competition and state aid.
Rod acts as strategic competition law adviser to a range of multinational corporates and investors. He specialises in the financial services, manufacturing, transport, consumer products, pharma, telecoms, media and technology sectors. In addition to his work for corporate clients, Rod has advised the UK government on major restructuring projects in the postal and transport sectors. He represents clients in their dealings with the European Commission, Competition and Markets Authority, Competition Appeal Tribunal, Financial Conduct Authority, Ofcom and other UK sector regulators.
Rod is listed as a leading individual in Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession (Band 1), Chambers Global and The Legal 500.
