Mr Allende is a founding partner and co-head of Carey & Allende’s corporate practice group. His professional activities are focused on corporate and natural resources matters. Mr Allende advices several national and multinational companies in the mining, energy, engineering and construction and natural resources industries, including forestry, fish farming and agribusiness. He also has extensive experience in project financing, particularly in the areas mentioned previously.
Mr Allende has acted as general counsel of Banco Hipotecario de Chile and Industrias Forestales SA, and has been a member of the board of directors of corporations listed on the Santiago stock exchange, such as Industria Azucarera Nacional – IANSA, LAN Airlines, Campos Chilenos SA and the controlling shareholders of Endesa Chile SA.
Mr Allende has advised clients in connection with numerous mining projects in Chile since 1990, including the negotiation of EPC and EPCM contracts, mining concessions, foreign investment contracts and project financing documentation.
Mr Allende is an arbitrator, member of the center for mediation and arbitration of the Commerce Chamber of Santiago (CAM), the main organisation dedicated to arbitration in Chile.
Mr Allende received a law degree from Universidad de Chile, School of Law (JD) and a Master of Arts (MA) from Fletcher School of Law in Boston, USA.
Mr Allende is a Fulbright Fletcher fellow and was sponsored by the State Department of the United States of America during his studies at Harvard University and the Fletcher School of Law.
Member of the Chilean Bar Association, International Lawyers Association (UIA), the Harvard Alumni Association, and the Fletcher Alumni Association.
He practises in the following areas: corporate, natural resources and mining.
Mr Allende has been assistant professor of procedural law at Universidad de Chile School of Law.
He is fluent in Spanish and English.
