Mr Garza has worked in some of the largest structured finance transactions; his most recent cases include securitisation deals related to infrastructure projects and local issuances of equity certificates known as CKDs, representing both sponsors and financial intermediaries. Mr Garza also regularly works in financing transactions, specialised banking and financial regulatory work, debt restructurings, structuring and implementation of equity funds, including in the real estate and infrastructure markets, mergers and acquisitions of financial assets and financial intermediaries, and foreign investment and joint venture transactions in a variety of industries. Mr Garza regularly works in cross-border finance transactions representing both commercial companies and financial entities.
He earned his law degree from the Universidad Panamericana, summa cum laude, and received his Master of Laws degree form the University of Texas. Mr Garza is a professor of credit transactions law and financial intermediaries at the Universidad Panamericana and has been a lecturer on Mexican Business and Commercial Law at the University of Texas.
Mr Garza is member of the National Association of Corporate Counsels and the Mexican Association of Insurance and Bonding Law. He has written various chapters and articles of specialised books and magazines, including chapter three, 'The New Mexican Banking System' included in volume 3 of Mexican Law: A Treatise for Legal Practitioners and International Investors, published by West Group, 'Rethinking Corporate Governance; The role of Minority Shareholders - A Comparative Study' included in volume 31, No. 3, 200 of the St. Mary's Law Journal, 'Equity Capital Market Development in Mexico: from SAPIBs to CKDs and Fibras' included in the Equity Capital Markets Handbook 2011, published by Euromoney and 'Mexico overview: from real estate and infrastructure to banking and financing developments' included in the Emerging Markets Handbook 2013 published by Euromoney.
