He brings many years' experience to domestic and cross-border, public and private M&A, private equity and infrastructure transactions. He acts for clients in a wide range of industries and countries, and has worked on deals in Freshfields offices around the world.
He has been involved in many landmark transactions. They include the competitive take-private of Debenhams through a scheme of arrangement that changed the way takeovers are done. Others include Kingfisher's two-stage acquisition of Castorama, the formation of dual-headed company Reed Elsevier and ICI's complex multi-jurisdictional purchase of Unilever's specialty chemical division. He also advised Anheuser-Busch on its bid for Harbin Brewery, the first competitive public bid in China.
Edward combines client work with his role as global head of corporate. Clients benefit both from his experience and his knowledge of the firm.
