Who's Who Legal Corporate Immigration

Federico is the global partner responsible for the Latin America and the Caribbean region. In addition to immigration law, he is experienced in the legal aspects of international business, designing compensation and benefits plans, and employment and social security treatment for foreign workers. Along with the firm's leadership, Federico directs Fragomen's regional expansion programme, which started with the Fragomen offices in Costa Rica (2007), and in Mexico and Brazil (2013).

Prior to joining Fragomen, Federico provided sophisticated immigration and employment law counsel to a wide range of corporations with presence in Costa Rica.

Federico’s entrepreneurship capacity, business-oriented and strong leadership skills were fundamental for the firm’s decision of launching its headquarters for Latin America and the Caribbean in Costa Rica. Currently, this office is the largest immigration law firm in Costa Rica and one of the largest law firms in the country. Fragomen is the first international law firm to set up offices in Costa Rica, a country with one of the highest levels of foreign direct investment in Latin America. Federico’s role as practice leader has been crucial for the firm’s business expansion in the region.

Federico is a member of the Costa Rican Bar Association and a member of the Costa Rican Notary Public Directory. Federico was the speaker at the Latin America: Mobility Opportunities and Challenges Seminar in Chicago, IL, 30 April 2013 and the presenter of "Immigration and Labor Regulations in Latin America", ACIP Conference, held in Washington, DC, on 8 June 2006. He was named Businessman of the Year (2007) and given the Entrepreneurship Award by El Financiero, Costa Rica's leading financial newspaper. He is ranked as a leading lawyer in Who's Who Legal: Corporate Immigration and in Best Lawyers for immigration law.

Federico is admitted in Costa Rica, and was educated at Georgetown University Law Center and INCAE, diploma in legal aspects of international business, 1999; and the International University of the Americas (Costa Rica), JD and Notary Public, honours, 1997. He speaks Spanish and English.

WWL says: Federico Solis is the pre-eminent immigration lawyer in Costa Rica, according to our research.
