Juliano Souza de Albuquerque Maranhão is founding partner of Sampaio Ferraz Advogados, a highly renowned Brazilian boutique law firm specialised in economic law, competition and regulatory law.

Juliano Maranhão graduated from the University of São Paulo, where he later completed his PhD and his Habilitation in law. He is currently professor of law at the University of São Paulo.

He developed post-doctorate studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He was also a visiting scholar at the Universities of Miami (United States) Leipzig (Germany) and Maastricht (Netherlands).

Gathering 14 years of professional experience in antitrust and regulatory law, Juliano Maranhão has taken part in some of the most complex cases before CADE, representing important clients such as OI, GVT, Cosan, Raizen, Itau, Siemens, CSN, Banco do Brasil and Continental Group in emblematic cases: (eg defence of OI/Brasil Telecom, Itaú/Unibanco, Banco do Brasil/Nossa Caixa, Gerdau/Sidenor, and oppositon to Sadia/Perdigão.

Former adviser to CADE's Presidency, Juliano Maranhão has published many articles, books and several papers on logic and argumentation, competition and regulatory law in the mainstream national and international legal journals.
