Domitille Baizeau is a partner at Lalive and has been practising dispute resolution for over 20 years, exclusively in international arbitration (commercial and investment) since 2001. She has acted in more than 60 international disputes, as counsel or arbitrator (including presiding arbitrator), in administered (ICC, LCIA, Swiss Rules, WIPO, SCC, AAA/ICDR) and ad hoc arbitration proceedings (including UNCITRAL), governed by various procedural and substantive laws, both common law and civil law, including English, American, Swiss, Swedish and French. Her areas of specialisation include joint venture, M&A, shareholders, sales, distribution and investment disputes in the energy, telecommunications, commodity trading, construction and pharmaceutical sectors.
Ms Baizeau is ranked in the arbitration sections of Chambers Global and Chambers Europe, and in Who's Who Legal: Arbitration. In 2011, she was selected as one of Global Arbitration Review’s 45 leading figures in international arbitration under 45 following a peer-review process conducted by Global Arbitration Review. She has recently been appointed vice president of the Arbitration Court of the Swiss Chambers’ Arbitration Institution. She is also a member of the board and the executive committee of the Swiss Arbitration Association, and an officer of the European Users’ Council of the LCIA. She is listed on several panels of arbitrators outside Switzerland and is a member of the editorial board of the ICC bulletin.
Ms Baizeau initially trained in New Zealand and also holds a French law diploma. She is admitted to practise England and Wales, as well as in Geneva. She practised litigation and arbitration in New Zealand and at the Paris office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer before joining Lalive in Geneva in 2004. She became partner of the firm in 2008. A dual New Zealand and French national, she is fluent in English and French, and has working knowledge of Spanish.
