Biography:

Who's Who Legal Nigeria - Restructuring & Insolvency

Adeniyi Adegbonmire is a partner in the litigation and ADR department of Aluko & Oyebode. Adeniyi obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB honours) from the University of Ife in 1987. He is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. In 2015, Adeniyi was elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) (the Nigerian equivalent of a Queen’s Counsel).

His areas of specialisation include commercial litigation and arbitration, corporate and commercial law, banking, corporate recovery and insolvency, company and partnership disputes. He advises on all aspects of Nigerian litigation practice and procedure.

Adeniyi has represented a wide range of clients including banks and other financial institutions, oil companies, multinational corporations and telecommunications operators in various litigation proceedings, at both the High Courts and the Appellate Courts, as well as in arbitration proceedings. 

Adeniyi heads the firm’s insolvency and debt recovery practice and has advised on all aspects of insolvency law. He has acted as receiver/manager and counsel to creditors in receivership, winding-up and bankruptcy proceedings. Adeniyi has deployed his wealth of experience in this practice area to provide legal advice to local and multinational companies involved in insolvency litigation.

Adeniyi also heads the firm’s real estate practice. With wide-ranging experience in all aspects of Nigerian real estate law, he has advised on a number of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, mortgages, leases, etc.

He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association; the International Bar Association; the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (INSOL International); and the Lagos State Land Use Charge Appeal Tribunal. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK.
