Her broad practice encompasses all aspects of EU and national competition and merger control laws, regulatory matters, state aid and commercial transactions, at both advisory and litigation stages.
She has an active practice counselling and representing clients before the EU Commission, the Italian Antitrust Authority (IAA), and the EU and Italian courts, in connection with complex EU and Italian merger cases, behavioural investigations on restrictive horizontal and vertical practices, cartels, abuses of dominance, consumer protection investigations and antitrust litigation cases. She also regularly advises and provides training to clients on antitrust compliance matters.
She has wide experience across a range of industry sectors, with a particular focus on oil and gas, energy, consumer goods, transportation and financial services. Silvia's recent experience includes advising a consumer good company in a cartel investigation prompted by a leniency application before the IAA and its subsequent litigation; a freight forwarder company in a cartel investigation before the IAA and its subsequent litigation; a media company as claimant in an abuse of dominance investigation before the IAA; a bank in a sector enquiry on prices of bank services to customers; an insurance company in a merger filing before the EU Commission; and a tobacco company in a referral for preliminary ruling under art. 267 TFEU to the Court of Justice.
Prior to joining Allen & Overy Silvia worked for five years at the IAA as an official and case handler, dealing with energy, oil and gas and consumer protection.
Silvia is recognised by all the principal legal directories as a leading lawyer and was recently included by the Milan Professional Women's Association, the Diversity Management Observatory of SDA Bocconi and D'Antona & Partners in their "Women Ready for Board" initiative.

A former official at the IAA, she also possesses great insights into regulatory organisations.'
Silvia has published a number of articles on competition law in Italian and European journals and contributed the Italian chapter of Matthew Bender's Antitrust Law and Trade Regulation. Silvia is also on the executive board of the Italian Antitrust Association.
She graduated in law (JD, magna cum laude) from the University of Rome and holds an LLM from Yale Law School. Silvia's mother tongue is Italian and she speaks English fluently.
