Bengt Kärde is senior partner and head of the firm's insurance and reinsurance practice group. His specialist practice consists of insurance, reinsurance, banking and finance law. He participates on a regular basis in both small and large structural deals concerning insurance-related businesses. These might concern acquisitions, de-mutualisation, restructurings, outsourcing or winding-up proceedings and run-off related issues. The practice group can provide advice on tax law aspects on insurance including pensions.
Mr Kärde assists mainly insurers in all types of insurance related disputes, in particular arbitral proceedings.
The firm's insurance group practically assists the entire Swedish insurance industry on a day-to-day basis. The firm's clients also include a great number of international insurance and reinsurance companies as well as insurance brokers.
Mr Kärde is co-author of Sovereign Borrowers published by the Commonwealth Secretariat; Kluwer International's Securitisation; Butterworth's book Cross-Border Security; and a number of articles in International Financial Law Review and other publications. Mr Kärde is a lecturer in international finance law at the Stockholm University. He is a member of the Swedish and International Bar Associations and Union Internationale des Avocats (Financial Services Commission), AIDA, Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances, Section Suédoise and the Swedish Arbitration Association. Mr Kärde is active in the ICC's reference group for financial services and insurance.
Mr Kärde also speaks English, French and German.
