Bertram Burtscher is a partner in the Vienna office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and a member of the corporate practice group heading the TMT team. He primarily provides legal advice in the area of media and telecommunications law, outsourcing, data protection and on complex IT projects and respective corporate transactions.
Bertram was born in 1966 and after graduation from Innsbruck University (Austria) with a science degree (theoretical chemistry) he worked as an expert adviser for the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) in Iraq. He went on to obtain a PhD in corporate law from Innsbruck University. In 1998 he was granted a scholarship from St Mary's Law School in San Antonio, Texas. Bertram joined the firm in January 2000 and also worked in the London and Hong Kong offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He teaches IT law in a postgraduate programme, hosted by the law faculty of Vienna University.
Bertram speaks German and English.
