Tobias has acted on a number of high profile cartel investigations, merger control proceedings and abuse of dominance cases, both before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office (FCO). He also advises clients before the European Courts as well as in follow-on litigation.
Tobias studied law at the University of Goettingen and holds a PhD in European competition law from the Humboldt University in Berlin. He is a co-author of the Brussels Commentary on EU Competition Law, the Frankfurter Commentary on Competition law, the Handbuch des Kartellrechts and of the Beck'sches Formularbuch Mergers & Acquisitions. Tobias has lectured widely on European and German competition law.
Tobias joined Freshfields in 1998 and became a partner in 2003. In 2001, he worked in the firm's London office. Tobias speaks German, English and some Swedish.
