Michael Sedlaczek is a partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer since 2001 and works in the Vienna office. He specialises in structuring national and international mergers and acquisitions, group reorganizations with a particular focus on financial institutions, tax aspects of financial instruments, structured finance and banking taxation.
A strong focus of his practice is on the planning and structuring of private wealth and family-owned businesses in the context of international tax planning, the structuring of private wealth for individuals, foundations and trusts.
Michael Sedlaczek was born in Vienna, Austria in 1964. He received his legal education in London and Vienna and holds the degree of Master of Laws (Mag. iur.) from the University of Vienna and the degree of PhD in law (Dr. iur.) from the University of Innsbruck. He is the author of numerous articles and publications on tax and EC law issues and lecturer at the University of Vienna. Furthermore he is a member of the IBA, the Austrian Bar Association and the International Academy for Estate and Trust Law.
Michael joined the firm in April 1999 and speaks German and English.
