Prof Dr Gerhard Wiedemann is a partner in Freshfields’ antitrust, competition and trade group, based in the Düsseldorf office. He joined the firm in 1981 and became partner in 1984. He is a member of the Düsseldorf Bar. His practice focuses on European and German competition law.
Gerhard has published and authored a number of books and articles on European and German competition law (eg, Handbook of Antitrust Law (second edition 2008), European Merger Control Monitor, looseleaf (1998), and Commentary on the Group Exemption Regulations of the EEC Antitrust Law (1989/1990)).
He is a professor at the University of Rostock, where he teaches EC and German competition law, and serves as a board member of the Antitrust Lawyers Association for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
