Biography • Oil and Gas

Michael Twomey is experienced in a wide range of corporate, commercial and financial law fields, including corporate mergers, acquisitions and restructurings, commercial real estate development, leasing and financing, and project finance. He has been actively involved in major transactions in the oil and gas (both upstream and downstream), mining, private power, hotel and shipping sectors.

In addition to appearing in this publication, Mr Twomey is recognised by Chambers Global as a leading lawyer in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, and banking and finance law He has also been recognised by Asia Law & Practice as a leading practitioner in the fields of corporate finance, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate law. He co-authored the Indonesian chapter of Getting the Deal Through - Gas Regulation (Law Business Research) from 2003 to 2008.

Mr Twomey has been an advisor to SSEK since 1992. He is a 1980 graduate of Yale University where he received a BA degree, graduating magna cum laude with distinction in economics, and a 1986 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. He was previously associated with the New York law firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood, where he specialised in real estate finance and mortgage loan syndication.

He is a member of the Bar of the State of New York and a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia.

Biography • Project Finance

Since arriving in Indonesia, Michael D Twomey has been actively involved in transactions in the oil and gas sector (both upstream and downstream) and in the private sector, including representing clients in their negotiations to restructure their power purchase agreements with PLN. In March 1999, he was invited by the minister of mines and energy to participate in the ministry's workshop on domestic gas policy.

Michael has been an adviser to SSEK since 1992 and is experienced in a wide range of corporate, commercial and financial law fields, including corporate mergers, acquisitions and restructurings, project finance and commercial real estate development, leasing and financing.

In addition to appearing in this publication, he is recognised by Chambers Global as a leading lawyer in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, and banking and finance law.
