Susan A Stone, co-head of Sidley's global insurance and financial services group, combines a deep understanding of the insurance industry with extensive first-chair trial and arbitration skills. Ms Stone has served the insurance industry for over two decades, and as the insurance group co-chair she leads a group of approximately 85 lawyers in New York, Chicago and London who provide a full range of legal services to clients in the insurance, reinsurance and financial services industries.

In addition, as a former federal prosecutor, Ms Stone has extensive trial experience in federal and state courts. Ms Stone focuses her practice on insurance and reinsurance disputes, while also maintaining a general commercial arbitration and litigation practice. Ms Stone is the past chairperson of ARIAS, the leading industry organisation devoted to reinsurance arbitrations, with more than one thousand members.

Ms Stone has taught trial advocacy for many years as an adjunct professor at DePaul University College of Law. She is a frequent speaker and author on matters pertaining to insurance and reinsurance.

Ms Stone received her JD (cum laude) from Harvard University in 1987 and her BA (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Yale University in 1983. She is admitted in Illinois and New York.
