Skip Stern is the head of the global finance group in Sidley’s Chicago office and is a co-head of the global finance group firm-wide. His practice includes a wide variety of lending and securitisation transactions with a specific emphasis on representing lenders, investors and borrowers in financing transactions in the entertainment and media industry. Those transactions include over 30 multi-picture film financing facilities as well as other transactions involving the financing of intellectual property royalties and revenue streams. He also works extensively on financing transactions under the EB-5 immigrant investor programme administered by the US Citizenship and Immigration Service. He represents one of the largest participants in the industry and has assisted on more than 20 deals through several regional centres. Mr Stern’s work in the securitisation industry typically involves representing financial institutions in transactions involving non-traditional and esoteric asset classes.
Mr Stern received his JD (cum laude, order of the coif) from Northwestern University School of Law in 1982 and his BA from the University of Michigan in 1979. He is admitted to practise in Illinois.
