David Sawyier is a partner in Sidley's Chicago office. He is a member of the investment funds, advisers and derivatives practice group. Mr Sawyier advises and represents clients in investment advisory, hedge fund and futures-related corporate and regulatory matters, including the organisation and offering of interests in hedge funds and commodity pools and investments in advisory and trading firms.
Mr Sawyier has been named the Best Lawyers' 2013 Chicago, Private Funds/Hedge Funds law "Lawyer of the Year". Best Lawyers designates "Lawyers of the Year" in high-profile legal practice areas in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each practice area community is honoured.
Mr Sawyier was the captain of the Harvard and Oxford rowing crews and represented the United States in the 1971 World Championships and in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.
Mr Sawyier received his diploma in law from Cambridge University in 1979, his JD from Harvard Law School in 1977, his MA from Oxford University in 1974 and his AB from Harvard University in 1972.
