Michael Reynolds is a partner at Allen & Overy LLP and divides his time between the Brussels, London and Washington, DC offices. Michael has more than 30 years' experience in European antitrust law with the firm and he opened the Brussels office in 1979.

He has represented major European, North American, Japanese and other international clients in a number of important cases before the European Commission and European Court of Justice and has advised the governments of Spain, Russia, Poland and Romania on the application of European Union law. His practice covers merger control, cartel and unilateral conduct cases. His corporate clients have included Braskem, BRF-Brasil Foods, CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional), Hitachi, Micron Corporation, Nippon Nishi Railroad, RIM, Symantec, Sun Microsystems, Toshiba and YKK.

Michael represented Sun Microsystems as complainant in the leading EU case against Microsoft. He has been involved in over 20 of the major cartel cases brought by the Commission including one of the first cases on cartel settlements. He has particular experience in the chemicals and high-tech sectors and experience in cartel cases and leniency applications.

Michael was president of the International Bar Association (IBA) for the term 2013–2014. Prior to becoming president, he held a number of senior positions at the IBA, including vice-president, secretary general, chair of the legal practice division and chair of the antitrust and trade law committee. He is a director and founding member of the IBA's global forum on competition and is the European Union coordinator for the IBA – all posts that reflect Michael’s standing within the international legal community.

In addition, Michael is a visiting professor in European Law at the University of Durham and a member of the International Competition Network's cartel and merger control working groups. He represents the IBA at ICN annual conferences as well as at the annual meetings of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
