Dr François Rayroux offers legal advice to banks and securities dealers. He is considered a leading lawyer in banking and financial services in Switzerland. As such, he has been nominated by various professional organisations as an expert in Switzerland in banking and financial law, as well as capital markets law.
François Rayroux is the co-head of the banking and finance group of Lenz & Staehelin in Geneva. He advises a number of Swiss and international financial institutions in all banking and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on funds management and distribution as well as all types of financial products, in particular derivative instruments. François Rayroux teaches investment funds law at professional organisations and is a frequent speaker at professional conferences on banking and financial law issues.
Admitted as an expert to the SIX Swiss Exchange for listing purposes, he is a member of the legal and compliance committee of the Swiss Funds Association and the investment funds committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). Co-author of the ISDA Netting and Collateral Opinions, he was the legal adviser in the context of the creation and launch of the first Swiss SICAV.
François Rayroux graduated from the University of Zurich (1986) and was admitted to the Zurich Bar (1989). He obtained an LLM from the University of Chicago law school (1990) and completed his doctoral thesis at the Zurich University (1993). He joined Lenz & Staehelin in 1992 and has been a partner since 1998. He speaks English, French, German and Italian.
