Willibald Plesser is a partner resident in the firm’s Vienna office. As a member of the corporate practice group his specialist focus includes investments in CEE/CIS and Turkey, in particular M&A projects including privatisations. His sector focus is in particular in the financial institutions sector, in the energy and infrastructure sector, and in the media sector. Presently, he serves as Freshfields’ co-head for CEE/CIS, and as a country partner for Turkey.
His core skills lie in negotiating transactions and structuring complex projects. Clients appreciate his implementation skills and his talent of finding innovative solutions whenever required. He frequently leads large teams and has the particular strength of identifying and drawing on the best people for each project wherever they might be located. He is often involved in the negotiations for joint ventures.
Willibald Plesser was born in Austria in 1955. He received his legal and philosophical education at the University of Vienna. He holds the degrees of Master of Laws (Mag iur) and Doctor of Laws (Dr iur) and Master of Philosophy in English and History (Mag phil) from the University of Vienna. Willibald Plesser joined the firm in 1981.
He speaks German, English and French.
