Ed Moss is of counsel with Shook Hardy & Bacon and focuses his practice on the handling and trial of products liability matters, complex commercial cases, and defence of class actions. Mr Moss's trial skills have received the highest recognition of his peers: he is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers. Mr Moss is consistently listed in Best Lawyers in America and has been selected as one of the top 10 litigators in Florida. He has been featured in Expert Guides: Guide to the World's Leading Product Liability Lawyers and Who’s Who Legal, which has recognised him as a leading individual product liability practitioner since 2009. Mr Moss has also been listed in of Benchmark Litigation: The Definitive Guide to America's Leading Litigation Firms & Attorneys as a national products liability litigation star (2010, 2011 and 2013 editions) and as a Florida litigation star (2010). He has been included in every edition of Florida Super Lawyers since 2008, and is also ranked in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2010–2013). Mr Moss features in the South Florida Legal Guide's "Top Lawyers" list (2011–2014) as well as Lawdragon 500: Leading Lawyers in America (2011–2012).
Mr Moss has represented numerous corporations in defending class action lawsuits. Some of his notable class action experience includes co-lead counsel in smoking and health cases in Florida. He has also defended various class action claims against such clients as Home Depot, American Home Products (diet drug litigation), and various members of the insurance industry and the health care industry.
Mr Moss has tried product liability cases for clients such as DuPont, Westinghouse Corporation, American Motors, Texaco, Otis Elevator, United Technologies, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, Hartford Insurance Company and The Boeing Company (in the Aero Peru Crash). He served as co-lead defence counsel in the DuPont Plaza fire case in San Juan, Puerto Rico; in addition he has represented Boeing Company in numerous crash disasters; Texaco in an "environment spill" toxic tort case; and Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company in two major class action trials. Mr Moss has also represented numerous architectural and construction firms in construction-related litigation, including his representation of Westinghouse in litigation arising from construction of the Miami Metrorail System.
Mr Moss is admitted to practise before the state and federal courts of Florida; before the US Courts of Appeals for the First, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits; and before the Supreme Court of the United States.
