Who's Who Legal Corporate Immigration

Austin T Fragomen Jr is the chairman of the executive committee for the world's leading corporate immigration law firm, Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy. Over the course of his career in immigration, Austin has served as staff counsel to the US House of Representatives subcommittee on immigration, citizenship and international law and as an adjunct professor of law at New York University School of Law. Austin has testified before Congress on a range of immigration issues. Most recently, he appeared before the social security subcommittee of the House Committee on Ways and Means to discuss how to enforce immigration laws at the worksite effectively. He has also testified before the immigration subcommittees of the House and Senate to share his expertise on a variety of business immigration related topics, including the H-1B and L visa programmes and corporate immigration compliance.

Austin is also the founding co-author of a renowned series of immigration handbooks that provide information on the best practices and latest developments in the field of business immigration, published by Thomson Reuters/West. He is vice chairman of the board of directors of the Center for Migration Studies; editorial board member of the International Migration Review; chairman of the board of directors of the Council on Global Immigration; chairman of the Practising Law Institute's Annual Immigration Institute; chairman of the Business Advisory Group, Global Forum Migration and Development; member of the board of the Jesuit Refugee Service, USA; and fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Austin is the co-author of several publications, including Immigration Procedures Handbook; Immigration Employment Compliance Handbook; State Immigration Employment Compliance Handbook; Immigration Legislation Handbook; H-1B Handbook; and Labor Certification Handbook (all co-authored with Careen Shannon and Daniel Montalvo, and published by Thomson Reuters/West). He has also co-authored Immigration Law & Business (with Alfred J Del Rey Jr and Sam Bernsen; published by Thomson Reuters/West); Immigration Fundamentals: A Guide to Law & Practice (with Steven C Bell; published by Practising Law Institute); and Immigration Business News & Comment (with Careen Shannon; published by Thomson Reuters/West).

Austin has also written numerous law review articles and articles for legal and professional publications. He is listed in Chambers USA, Who's Who Legal, Best Lawyers in America, New York Magazine's "Best Lawyers in New York Metro Area", Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World and Super Lawyers.

Austin is admitted to practise in New York and the District of Columbia. His court admissions include the US Supreme Court of Appeals; the US Court of the District of Columbia; the US Court of Appeals, Second Circuit; the US Court of Appeals, Third Circuit; the US District Court, District of Columbia; and the US District Court, Southern District of New York. He was educated at Case Western Reserve School of Law (JD, 1968) and Georgetown University (BS, 1965).
