Ira Eddymurthy is a founding partner of SSEK Legal Consultants, one of the largest and most highly regarded law firms in Indonesia. She represented GlaxoSmithKline in a US$50 million deal that saw the global health-care company take full control of its Indonesian Consumer Healthcare business, while divesting a non-core brand in the country. Ms Eddymurthy advised Standard Chartered Bank on a complex US$90 million ISDA financing arrangement for the Adani Group and led the SSEK team advising Siam Cement Group in its US$135 million acquisition of the Indonesian assets of an Australian construction materials supplier. Ms Eddymurthy is recognised as one of Indonesia’s leading lawyers in the fields of capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and banking and finance by Who's Who Legal, Chambers & Partners, IFLR1000 and The Legal 500. Ms Eddymurthy graduated from the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law in 1984 and was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law from 1990 to 1991. Ms Eddymurthy recently led the SSEK team acting as Indonesian counsel for Dai-ichi Life Insurance of Japan in its US$337 million acquisition of a 40 per cent stake in Indonesia’s PT Panin Life. This was the first M&A transaction involving an Indonesian insurance company to go before the Financial Services Authority, Indonesia’s new financial services regulator.
She acted as Indonesian counsel for BlueScope Steel, Australia’s largest steelmaker, in its US$1.3 billion joint venture with Nippon Steel Corporation of Japan to establish a new coated products business in Southeast Asia and North America. Ms Eddymurthy led the team advising Siam Cement Group in its US$135 million acquisition of the Indonesian assets of Boral (Australia), and represented SC Johnson in all Indonesian aspects of its US$328 million takeover of Sara Lee.
Ms Eddymurthy graduated from the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law in 1984 and was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law from 1990 to 1991. Ms Eddymurthy is recognised as an expert in mergers and acquisitions, banking, and capital markets by Who’s Who Legal, and as one of the top capital markets and M&A lawyers in Indonesia by Chambers Global.
