Eduardo de Alba is an accomplished partner with extensive experience in the areas of media and communications; public utilities; mergers, acquisitions and joint-ventures; shipping litigation; and corporations.
From 1999 to 2005, Mr de Alba was a member of the board of directors of Interlaw.
Transactions in which he has participated include: the $100 million loan by Citibank to TACA; Grupo Mundial Tenedora's $211 million alliance with Mapfre America; Harsco's $100 million acquisition of Esco Interamerica; FAMM and FAMM Antilles maritime litigation in Panama; $175 million multi-series senior secured notes issuance of Bahía Las Minas Corp; Caribbean Properties Group's $150 million indirect acquisition of 85 per cent equity interest in Royal Decameron Resort; Arcos Dorados' $700 million acquisition of McDonald's in Latin America and its financing and $450 million 2009 refinancing; Prisma Energy's $50 million sale of a 51 per cent equity interest in Bahia Las Minas Corp to Suez Energy; and the $3.6 billion merger, in 2003, of Panamco into Coca-Cola Femsa.
A strong lawyer with skills in different disciplines, he has been recognised as a leading lawyer by publications such as Who's Who Legal, Chambers & Partners and IFLR.
Mr de Alba obtained his AB from Georgetown University and his JD from the Louisiana State University Law Center.
