Stephen has headed Slaughter and May's mergers and acquisitions practice since 2001. He has a general corporate and M&A practice, with particular experience in takeover bids and other stock exchange-related work.
Stephen acts for a number of listed companies including FTSE 100 clients Aggreko, ARM Holdings, Barratt Developments, Centrica, Diageo, International Airlines Group, John Wood Group and Rolls-Royce and FTSE 250 clients Morgan Advanced Materials, Segro, Ultra Electronics and WS Atkins.
Recent work includes advising Shire on the offer by Abbvie; Autonomy on the offer by Hewlett-Packard; Cadbury on the hostile offer by Kraft; British Airways on its merger with Iberia and its abortive merger with Qantas; Emerson Electric on its offer for Chloride Group; Associated British Ports on the competitive offers by Admiral and Britannia consortia; Cazenove on the merger of its investment banking business with JP Morgan; PSA on its offer for P&O; and Songbird on its offer for Canary Wharf.
Stephen worked in Slaughter and May's former New York office from 1989 to 1990. He is the author of Takeovers (PLC Publications, 1997).
