Biography • Product Liability Defence

Simon Castley focuses his practice in the area of product liability legal work for UK, US and European clients. He has worked extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East. His experience also includes litigation on corporate and commercial matters together with work on regulatory affairs and liability advice.

Mr Castley, a UK national, is fluent in English and French, having lived and worked both in London and Paris. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the International Bar Association, and is SHB's delegate at the Product Liability Forum, run by the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. He has been included in Expert Guides: Guide to the World's Leading Product Liability Lawyers, Who's Who Legal: The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers and Chambers UK, where sources described him as 'a very good lawyer in command of his subject who understands the science, not just the law'.

He is the author of the UK section of Getting the Deal Through: Product Liability and 'Understanding Civil Litigation Procedures in England and Wales' in Litigation Client Strategies for the UK, published by Aspatore, and has been a recipient of the Burton Award for legal writing.

Mr Castley has spent a significant amount of time in the United States gaining experience of US litigation methods. He works frequently in Europe, the Middle East and Asia and has extensive experience in the various legal systems within these jurisdictions. He is the managing partner of SHB's London office.
