Jack Bernstein is the senior tax partner and chair of Aird & Berlis LLP's international tax practice. He is also a member of the firm's tax group and tax litigation group, as well as the mergers and acquisitions team.
Jack is well known in international tax planning, mergers, acquisitions, corporate restructuring, reorganisations and financing. He is experienced in dealing with public and private corporations, hedge funds, venture capital funds, real estate funds and financial institutions.
In addition to Who's Who Legal, Jack is recognised by Chambers Global, The Legal 500 Canada, Legal Media Group's Guide to the World's Leading Tax Advisors, Martindale-Hubbell, The Best Lawyers in Canada and Lexpert. He is a former co-chair of the taxes committee of the International Bar Association (IBA), a former governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation (CTF), a member of council of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) Canadian branch, and a former chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) section of taxation foreign lawyers forum. He is also a member of The Law Society of Upper Canada and the Barreau du Québec.
Jack is the author of four and editor of two CCH books, editor of Tax Profile and a regular contributor to Tax Notes International and Canadian Tax Highlights (CTF). He has written many articles for a number of other tax-related publications and lectures extensively on domestic and international tax planning for the ABA, IFA, IBA, CTF and other organisations.
